Library Department

INTRODUCTION
The college has a large library with a reading room established in 1986.
Initially, it contained only books from the Arts faculty, and gradually, books from Science and Commerce were added under the UGC scheme. Today, it houses approximately 25,000 books, including textbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, competitive exam books, and reference books. The SOUL3.0 software was installed in the library in 2019. The government has launched book bank and BPL-related schemes for SC/ST students, which have also been available in the library since 2007.

To provide best available material among students to enrich their knowledge and help them for better possibilities in their future.
 
COLLECTION
Library has a collection of around 25000 books which includes :-
·       TEXT BOOKS:-Art,Science,Commerceareavailablein3headswhich are Contingency , UGC, Book Bank. They can be issued by the students
accordingto therules.
·       REFE RENCE BOOKS:-Encyclopaedia,Dictionaries,Publication,Govt. rules and Competitive Books etc. These are available only for reference purpose in the library, not to issue.

·       SPECIAL BOOKS:-Braille,Music,Sportsarealsoavailable.


·       Dailynewspaper,Magazinesandemploymentpaperaredisplayeddailyon the holding racks.
 
 
RULES & REGULATIONS:-
It’s necessary to have “Rules&Regulations” for the library in order to run the unit smoothly and effectively. Certain rules and regulation in the library are as
followed :-
ØWorking Hour–10to5P.Monallworkingdays.
ØMembership– MembershipsareprovidedfromtheIDcardofthe Students
/Staffwhichis providedbythe CollegeAuthority.
ØRestrictedSections–Bookswhichcannotbeissuedare:-Encyclopaedia, Dictionaries, Publication, Magazines, Journals, Newspaper , Set od old
QuestionPapersetc.
ØBorrowingRights–TextbooksCanbeissuedfor7daysandreissueafter7 days.
ØLost Books –The price printed in the books will be determine by the authorityanditshallbepaidbytheperson.IfaVolumefromaMulti- Volume Set is lost then price of the whole set will be charged.
ØGeneralInstruction
1.    Everyoneshouldsignthevisitorregistertoenterthe library.
2.    Writing/Marking/Underlininginabookisforbidden.
3.    Tearing/Cuttinganypageofthebooksisprohibited.
4.    Eatingisnotpermitted inthelibrary.
5.    ThereshouldbeCompletesilenceinthe library.
   6.    Inspectionwillbedoneifastudenttakesoutanyarticleorbook without getting it issued.
   7.    Everyoneisrequiredtomaintaindisciplineinthelibraryandadhere strictly to the Rules & Regulation of the library.
 
 Thelibrarianisauthorizedtoterminatethemembershipofany borrower if they are found to be guilty for any misbehaviour or violating the rules.


 WORK CULTURE:-
·       BOOKS
1.    Selection of Books–Approvedbythedepartmentwiselistofbooks for purchase. 

Every financial year, it is mandatory to invite quotations for the supply of books. After approval from the purchase committee, a bookseller is selected for purchases throughout the year.
2.    Processing –All the books received from the seller will be checked thoroughly, then ownership stamp are to be affixed on three places in thebooks,whichareFrontofthetitlepage,bottomofsecretpageand the last page of the book. Thereafter the books will be entered in the accession register.
3.    Arrangement–Displaythebooksonsubjectwiseshelvesinthe order of Arts, Science and Commerce.
·       BOOK ISSUE–Accordingtotherulestextbooksaretobeissuedfor7 days and reissue after 7 days.

The book bank allows two students from SC/ST and BPL categories to borrow a set of books until the exams, subject to the rules and regulations. This facility is provided only after the student fills out a declaration form.

It has been developed by the INFLIBNET Centre based on the needs of college and university libraries.

There are 3 way sforallotment offunds to purchase the books, journal sand magazines.
